We invite community members to learn about historic oppression and systemic racism and share their lived experiences for personal and community empowerment.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and social justice upheaval brought on by the continuous onslaught of police brutality against the Black community, attacks on Asian Americans, and the health disparities Pasefika people faced, Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI)'s were caught in a paradox. Dr. Macapugay will discuss the Model Minority Stereotype and how it affects the well-being AAPI's and the greater community. This interactive session will guide attendees through a thoughtful discussion and ways our communities can move past harmful stereotypes together towards a collective future where we all feel safe and valued
.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who identifies as AAPI, serves AAPI community members, or is interested in learning about AAPI issues.
